Kristin Goodwillie is an Anchor & Reporter at WHAS11 and is thrilled to call picturesque Louisville and Southern Indiana home. She has spent her time in Kentucky covering the police killing of Breonna Taylor and the following protests, historic tornado coverage in Western Kentucky, COVID and those with long-haul symptoms and the record breaking year of gun violence. Kristin has also covered heart-warming stories like the first brewery in a 100-mile radius opening in Appalachia, a man who immigrated to America and created one of the most thriving community centers in our area and the resurgence of the performing arts.
Kristin grew up in San Diego, CA with aspirations of becoming a writer, and even wrote her own book series as a child. She graduated from California State University, Fullerton with a B.A. in Broadcast Journalism and a minor in Radio/TV/Film.
While at CSUF, Kristin published an article in the Titan Magazine, interned at ABC 7 in Los Angeles and at a not-for-profit in Washington D.C.. One of her most memorable experiences was traveling to the rain forests of Guatemala as a foreign MMJ Reporter for CSUF, sharing stories of struggle and hope about the selfless work of Refuge International’s medical mission. Her work was posted on ABC 7, Refuge Intl. and CSUF websites.
Kristin’s journalism career began at KPIC in the small town of Roseburg, Oregon where she was one of the first reporters on scene to cover the Umpqua Community College Shooting in 2015. She went live for many national news organizations and extensively covered the shooting for weeks. Shortly after, Kristin was promoted to the main evening anchor position at KVAL/KMTR in Eugene, Oregon where she anchored the nightly news at two affiliates – CBS and Fox.
Fun Fact: Kristin trained in classical ballet since the age of 5 and performed through college.
In her spare time, Kristin enjoys spending time with her family, traveling and creating fun memories wherever she goes.
